Welcome to the Foundation La Ventana de los Cielos

The Foundation La Ventana de los Cielos – Window of Heavens – is a non-governmental non-profit organization, initiated in 2005. The Foundation promotes, advocates and protects the right of children with special abilities to a wholesome physical and intellectual development as determined by their condition.

The work of the Foundation, enshrined in human rights, contributes to the realization of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as relates to persons with special abilities.

La Ventana encourages the realization of the right to non-verbal means of communication, through the promotion of methodologies which reinforce affection as the language of excellence for children with special abilities. Zoo-interaction, aqua experience and horse based activities, are programmatic means which allow a person with special abilities to transform from being object of care, to a subject who cares.

The Foundation – Christian, faith-based – promotes in its daily work, the right of every person to the development of ethical and moral values, respecting religious freedom. La Ventana brings together program interventions which emphasize affection, integrating the whole family in the process of learning the language of care and love, close to nature, as means of supporting the right of the child with special abilities to a wholesome development in his and her areas of strength.

The Foundation was started in 2005 at the initiative of writer-singer Ricardo Montaner and Marlene Rodriguez Miranda, supported by their children Ricky, Mauricio and Eva Luna. The Foundation has internationally experienced members in its Board of Directors and its daily work is led by Marlene Rodriguez. The Foundation, with base in Miami, initiated in 2008 a process of international expansion in its advocacy, as voice of voiceless children with special abilities, in collaboration with, and in support of institutions such as UNICEF. The Foundation depends exclusively on voluntary contributions from the public and institutions.

In “About Us” the entire vision and mission statement of the Foundation is available.
